Wine Racks

Wine racks come in many different styles and can be made from many different types of materials, from wood, to metal, to plastic. There basic function is to store wine on its side so that the wine remains in contact with the cork to help maintain the health of the cork and the seal preventing air from getting to the wine.

Probably the most popular material for a wine rack is wood, and there are certainly many different styles of wooden wine racks. Another very popular and stylish material for wine racks is wrought iron.

Certain styles of wine racks may be built into a wine cellar, others are designed to be placed in a closet or the basement to store wine. Some are nicely finished pieces of furniture that may be appropriate for the family dining room - although that is less than an ideal place to store wine for the long term as it would typically be too warm.

The selection of the "right" wine rack for you is really a matter of taste and where the wine is going to be stored. There is really now wrong solution as long as the wine is stored on its side in a cool, dark, damp place (see: Wine Storage).
