An American Viticultural Area or AVA is a designated wine grape-growing region in the U.S. AVA boundaries are defined by the U.S. Department of the Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)

An AVA may also be referred to as an Appellation of Origin.
