In addition to fruit wines and mead (wine made from honey) Colorado wineries make wine from the following grape varieties: Black Muscat, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cinsault, Gewurztraminer, Malbec, Merlot, Muscat Ottonel, Orange Muscat, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Syrah, Viognier, and Zinfandel.
