The Best Box Wines of 2008

This post from Dr. Vino (The best box wines of 2008), lists some nice choices for box wines. I have been encouraged by the emergence of good, vintage dated, varietal wines in the box format. While these wines will not necessarily win any competitions, they are very acceptable for every day drinking.

I would add to his list 2 that I enjoy on a regular basis:

  • Hardey’s Chardonnay – This one is cheating since it was not new in 2008.
  • Bota Box Shiraz – New and not new. The name and the packaging are new. The wine… Well, did anyone else notice that the Delicato Shiraz in a box disappeared from the shelves at the same time this arrived?

If you find the concept of good wine in a box intriguing, check out the Top 5 Box Wines from Epicurious, or Think Outside the (Wine) Box from AOL Food.
