The first International Cold Climate Wine Competition was held yesterday (August 25, 2009) in St. Paul, Minnesota. 4 wines were recognized with top honors:
- Best red: Lincoln Peak Vineyard and Winery in New Haven, VT for its Marquette
- Best white: Mac’s Creek Vineyards and Winery in Lexington, NE for its Edelweiss
- Best specialty or fortified wine: WineHaven Winery and Vineyard in Chisago City, MN for its 2008 La Crescent Slippery Slope Ice Wine
- The Governor’s Cup (best Minnesota wine): Falconer Vineyards for its Frontenac port
