Decanting a red wine can be useful in two different ways:
- It can remove an aged red wine from the sediment that has collected in the bottle making for a more pleasant drinking exprience. Of course, one must be careful. Some older wines do not hold up well to decanting and quickly fade after decanting.
- It can help to soften a young red wine helping it to become a little more harmonious.
The Wine Soiree bottle-top wine aerator can remove the decanting fuss from aerating a young red wine. I must admint that I have no personal experience with this, but in concept it seems like it should work.
Do any of my readers have any personal experience with the Wine Soiree?

I just tried Soiree the other day. I even had a “before and after” taste test with my wine. The Soiree really opened up the wine and brought out its full flavor. There is a clear difference and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to taste the full value out of their young bottle of wine.
