The 2007 Cline California Zinfandel has abundant dark berry fruit on the nose and palate. There is a nice but restrained oakiness and the tannins are smooth and long on the finish. While high in alcohol (14%) the fruit balances it and the wine does not seem “hot”.
I had it with smoked chicken and my guests had it with baby back ribs and wood grilled shrimp. For me it went very well with the smokiness of the chicken. My guests agreed that it paired well with their meals as well.
All in all, a very pleasent, food friendly, and imensely drinkable wine that cost me only $11.99. I would rate it very good and would definately buy it again.
