Trinity Oaks 2007 California Pinot Noir
I came across this “find” in a restaurant, and a find it was. The Trinity Oaks 2007 California Pinot Noir is a very smooth, easy drinking, Pinot Noir with berry flavors and very smooth tannins. The actual wine, predominantly Pinot Noir, also has some Cabernet Sauvignon blended in for a little added complexity. I had this wine with salmon and it was an excellent match. I would rate this wine as very good.
The wine cost me $27 in the restaurant, but a little web searching tells me that it goes for between $7 and $8 a bottle (boo on the restaurant with a better than 3 times markup over retail). That makes this one a best buy as well (retail, and in reasonable restaurants).
And here is an added bonus, for every bottle you buy, they plant a tree. Good inexpensive wine and going green at the same time – what’s not to love about that.
