2006 Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon

I asked my local retailer for a nice “inexpensive” Cabernet Sauvignon the other day and he recommended the 2006 Columbia Crest Two Vines. I paid only $6.99 for the bottle so the outlay was minor and the expectations were modest.

Upon tasting this wine with an Italian meal (chicken parm. & pasta) I was pleased with the results. I found it to be a wine of some character and complexity, certainly more than I would have expected from such an inexpensive wine. It went very well with the meal and would have been nice to drink on its own. Even if it had been a little more simple I would have considered myself well served at the price point. To find additional flavor and complexity was a very unexpected bonus.

I’d rate the 2006 Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon as very good and a best buy.
